About Us
We set up Pop Up Penzance in June 2013 because we thought someone should do something about the dismal empty shops in Penzance and we knew they could be an opportunity to bring new and fun activities into the heart of town. We live in and love Penzance, and thought our backgrounds in community development, event production, and just organising stuff, could be put to good use in trying to revitalise our town centre.
So, working in collaboration with a wide variety of local individuals and groups, and with a lot of help along the way, we have delivered arts, community and retail/enterprise activities in empty shops in Penzance as well as town centre events like the Man Engine Go Kart Derby. We have supported start-up businesses, enabled local people to engage with and enjoy theatre, film, and all sorts of arts and music events, and enabled our dedicated community sector to develop their services for the benefit of local people.
We believe that because shopping patterns have changed so much over the past 25 years, our town centres are changing, and the future of Penzance town centre will be a vibrant mix of retail, residential, community and social activity. If you would like to get involved, please get in touch.
