Penzance Youth Market 2019

Penzance Youth Market is delighted to announce that they have been awarded National Lottery funding to develop the Pz Youth Market and to continue to bring the young people of Penzance area the opportunity to engage and benefit from the real life experience of running their own micro business.

Three markets per year, at Easter, Golowan Festival and Christmas, afford young people the chance to create a small business of their own and learn in a real life environment about selling and marketing their goods or services. With a performance stage/busk stop too the markets are lively and fun, giving young performers an opportunity to show off their talents and to hone their creative, business and musical skills. The traders and performers are involved in management, marketing and publicity, young people create the poster design, manage the stage, publicise via social media and all the informal sessions in the lead up to a market are young people driven; including pricing, product reviews, ideas for improvement, publicity materials and promoting the markets. The latest creation has been our Busk Stop sign and money collection stand made by Logan Harvey, 24yrs old of Metrodeca.

The next three years will work towards getting the Youth Market embedded in the town. The markets provide a really valuable experience,  are fundamentally about empowerment for young people, and they offer the town a positive opportunity to engage with our young people.

Recently Pz Youth Market have teamed up with the new monthly Penzance Charter Market run by Pz BID, bringing a new audience to the market traders and performers, and encouraging relationships between the generations, each enhancing the other. The market is for everyone between 12-25yrs, who would like to have a go at doing business, offer live entertainment or who feels inspired to take that small step and see where it takes them.
