Penzance Youth Markets (PzYM) 2016/17
Giving young people a place to do business.
PzYM gives local young people (12-25) a real opportunity to test and grow their entrepreneurial talents. Three street markets at Christmas, Easter and Golowan Festival in the summer gave our young people a chance to explore their business ideas, sell their wares, perform to a live audience and move their business confidence forward.
In preparation for the Markets, young people attend “development” sessions where they learn business skills, share product feedback with their peers, and make decisions about creating the best Market events possible.
PzYM was piloted from October 2016 to July 2017 with funding from BIG Lottery, Feast Cornwall, Cornwall Community Foundation, Penzance BID and Cornwall Council Community Chest.
PzYM has been a fantastic success, with 67 young people participating and benefitting and we are currently seeking support for its continuation. Update: PzYM is now in it’s second year with new funding from Big Lottery Awards for All, Chapel House Penzance and Stand For, a charity that helps young people in adversity. See PzYM Yr2 page…
